Since 1993 we have supported institutions, organisations and individuals to create design that engages, informs and inspires. From emerging initiatives to established organisations, we build lasting relationships based on dialogue, trust and shared ambition.

Many of these partnerships (some spanning more than 20 years) have led to projects that continue to evolve through collaboration and a focus on lasting relevance.

Every project is a conversation shaped by context, audience and intent. Our approach is both instinctive and rigorous, guided by research, conceptual depth and a dedication to craftsmanship.

History

Our practice has evolved over three decades. Founded through the collaboration between John Gollings and David Pidgeon (Gollings Pidgeon, 1993–2007), the studio continued as Design By Pidgeon (2007–2018) before becoming Pidgeon Ward, with Alex Ward joining as partner in 2018.

The studio’s story is one of shared vision, collaboration, and the contributions of many – staff, collaborators, suppliers and clients – who have shaped our approach to thoughtful, enduring design.

David Pidgeon (AGI)

David has pursued diversity in clients and output, which in turn employs a curious mix of playful yet intelligent; precise yet intuitive output. His experiments in typographic form is a process that he has pursued since being a student at University, and one of the creative threads that draws all of his work together.

Alex Ward

Alex is driven by the interplay between form and function, crafting solutions that are both visually compelling and deeply resonant. With expertise spanning brand, environmental, digital, and print media, Alex’s strength lies in a seamless cross fertilisation of approaches and ideas, bringing complex conceptual ideas to reality.
